The Torean hiking trail is the newest route to Mount Rinjani in the northern part of the island of Lombok, which is included in the administrative area of the North Lombok Regency. This route is usually traversed by pilgrims to Lake Segara Anak, both Hindus and Muslims.
The Torean route is the most sloping path to Lake Segara Anak, departing from an altitude of 750 meters above sea level (start trekking point) to Lake Segara Anak 2000 meters above sea level. Climbers have favored this route since its inception, particularly when descending from the lake. Not only is the net downhill and sloping, but the entire journey from the lake to the gate point of the Torean is breathtaking, captivating the eyes of everyone who passes on the path.
You will find views of valleys, rivers, waterfalls, and dense forests along the way from Lake Segara Anak to the gate of Torean Village. Mount Rinjani National Park’s natural beauty will astonish you with its presented natural scenery.

Arrive at Post 2 around 10 a.m., then go to Post 3 and have lunch there. The distance from the point at the start of the ascent to Post III is 4.5 km long. The path, which traverses through a savanna forest, is relatively easy, with the climbing point starting from an altitude of 1300 masl to 1800 masl.
After lunch, the journey continues to the Sembalun crater rim. The journey from post III to the Sembalun crater rim (Pelawangan) typically takes 2.5-3.5 hours. The trail is quite steep and tiring, but safe for climbers.
This path, known as the Hill of Remorse, piques the curiosity of every climber as it traverses seven distinct summits. The distance between Post III and the field is only 1.5 km.

Travel Duration: 12-14 hours
Activity
Wake up at 1:30 am for breakfast with toast and a hot drink. Then, at 2 o’clock, we went up to the top. From the camp to the peak, it takes 2.5–5 hours.
The journey to the top is the most rewarding experience when exploring Mount Rinjani. Additionally, the trek to the top is quite strenuous, with the track becoming steep and slippery in the first hour due to the sand. After that, the track is more gentle but long, while 45 minutes before reaching the top, you will find the most challenging and curious path.
Sand and gravel dominate this path, forcing you to walk slowly. Here you will have an annoying experience where you take two steps and then step back one step because it is slippery but safe because the trail is quite wide.
Upon reaching the summit of Mount Rinjani, fatigue dissipates, leaving only awe at the breathtaking natural scenery from a height of 3,726 meters above sea level.
Once you are satisfied with taking pictures and capturing your moment, proceed to the Sembalun crater rim (camp area). The way down is faster, but you have to be careful and prioritize safety. It takes 1.5 hours to cover a distance of 3.5 km.
Your breakfast is ready when you arrive at the camp area. You typically experience extreme fatigue as a result of inadequate sleep and extremely demanding travel. You have little time to rest because you must keep going to the lake.
From Pelawangan to Lake Segara Anak, the distance is 3.5 km, and the travel time is 2.5–3.5 hours. Arriving at the lake, get lunch. You will set up tents in the Segara Anak lake area, where you can not only enjoy lake views but also visit the nearby hot springs.
Enjoy a memorable dinner in a quiet atmosphere on the shores of Lake Segara Anak, followed by rest. Make sure to go to sleep early because the next day you will continue your journey to Torean Village.
